Damayan Key Accomplishments under Linda’s Leadership
Year 2022 was Damayan’s 20th Anniversary and for over two decades under Linda’s leadership, Damayan has remained steadfast in its anti-imperialist perspective; and has developed and articulated a clear vision, mission, Theory of Change, and strategies that have guided and grounded its work, even during the unprecedented Covid-19 pandemic.
During the last two decades, Damayan has developed and sustained core programs to serve and empower the local Filipino communities: Promoting workers' and immigrants’ rights; fighting labor and human trafficking; providing financial support and comprehensive case management to survivors; reunifying survivor families; and connecting all these service programs to the center of our organizing– base building and workers leadership development, primarily of trafficking and wage theft survivors. Today, as we celebrate Damayan’s journey and accomplishments, we pay tribute to the woman, migrant worker, and social justice leader whose leadership helped empower many others.
Join "Isang Pagpupugay: A Tribute to Outgoing Damayan Executive Director Linda Oalican" on Feb 25th at The People’s Forum, as we celebrate Linda and her 20 years of service, organizing and activism, together with workers, allies, friends, and our community.
Ticket prices for the event are $25 for workers, and $50 above for non-workers/allies. Funds raised will go towards an appreciation package intended for Linda, as she welcomes this new phase in her life.
