Damayan caps year with "TAGSIBOL: A Time of Growth", its first annual benefit event

Dear Damayan Friends and Supporters,

Damayan is proud of our accomplishments this past year. Among them, we won justice for four trafficked domestic workers, helping them get immigration relief and begin the process of reunification with their children. We became one of the pioneering organizations developing the vision, concept and organizing strategy to build the “Eldercare Dialogues” in the Upper West Side of Manhattan, to promote quality jobs for workers and quality care for elderly employers. And earlier this year, we were honored to receive the North Star Fund Frederick Douglass Award.

We're growing even more in the coming year. We're excited to start our first workforce development and nanny training program in partnership with Cornell University. We're expanding our Baklas Anti-Trafficking Campaign in collaboration with Women Organized to Resist and Defend (WORD) and focusing on waivers of immunity and suspensions of diplomats' countries from the A3/G5 visa program. And we're developing our trafficked workers mentorship program, deepening our organization's peer support and leadership development.

We invite you to celebrate our growth at our first annual benefit event on Friday, November 22, 2013. This year's event, Tagsibol: A Time of Growth, will include performing artists Ruben Austria and family, as well as a performance by Sining Pandayan, Damayan's cultural collective.

In addition, join us in honoring the indispensable partnerships of the Community Development Project-Urban Justice Center, the Anti-Trafficking Program-Safe Horizon, and Karen Prudente of United Methodist Women.

The reception is at 6:00 pm followed by a light dinner and a program at 7:30 pm, with an after-party to follow. We'll be at the beautiful Christ Church United Methodist, at 520 Park Ave; attire is semi-formal.
