Happy Father's Day!

On this Father's Day, Damayan honors and recognizes the valiant efforts, sacrifices, and love of Filipino migrant fathers who are forced to be separated from their families in the Philippines to work overseas, as well as the fathers who take on the role of being the mother for their children in the Philippines, as their spouses work abroad. Unfortunately, the continuing underdevelopment of the Philippines, driven by the neoliberal policies of the US primarily, perpetuate widespread poverty and unemployment, and Filipino forced migration. Thus, Filipino fathers will continue to stay separated from their wives or their children.

This Father’s Day, we call on the fathers in our community to join Damayan and be part of a strong migrant workers organization fighting to stop the Philippines Labor Export Program and to have equal rights as im/migrant workers and for economic and social justice for all, especially for our people in the homeland. On this special day, let us celebrate the unwavering love and selflessness of all Filipino fathers, regardless of their circumstances. Happy Father's Day!
