T'ruah Fellows Visit Damayan
On August 3, Damayan was visited by the cohort of six Fellows from the T'ruah: The Rabbinic Call for Human Rights Summer Fellowship. The Fellowship brings together Rabbinic students to explore issues of social justice and organizing in New York City, placing Fellows with local organizations three days per week. Damayan has been a host site for the T'ruah Fellowship since 2013. Previous T'ruah Fellows assisted with policy, research and organizing aspects of Damayan's Baklas anti-trafficking campaign. At the cohort visit, Fellows learned about the issues facing Filipino low-wage workers in New York, Damayan's organizing model, and about the Baklas campaign and trafficking of Filipino domestic workers.
